Along with practicing Dentistry since 1972
and Periodontics since 1979, you have been the
Clinical Professor and Course Director at USC
School of Dentistry for thirty-eight years, among
many other achievements. You are known
for your unique blend of didactic and clinical
expertise. How has this proficiency influenced
your work?
Dr. Drury
It all works together. I teach the current
periodontal literature course to the periodontal
residents at USC. Together we read and discuss
the scientific literature. I can bring this
knowledge back to my office and apply it to
the care of my patients. I perform periodontal
therapy that is based not only on my experience,
but the strength of the scientific evidence we
have and not on hearsay, emotion, or anecdotal
information.
