The Mark Powell brand offers ready-to-wear, made-
to-order, and bespoke tailoring apparel, not to,
mention made to measure shoes, which are beautiful
by the way. What will we see next from Mark Powell
in the nearest future?
Mark Powell
Well the thing is, because we are a very much like our
own independent things. I mean obviously if I was
doing more licensing, and things like that it would be
bigger, I mean I have touched on it a little. We did a
glasses range a few years back. A really nice optical
glasses as well as sun glasses. We do a good range of
vintage accessories and stuff like that, which are
more our taste, but I think the things that I would
like to bring in…I don’t really want to make any more
like a brand with regard to doing casual clothes, but I
certainly will be considering doing a lot more separate
type of tailoring. So, you know, like nice jackets on
their own, which I think will work really well with my
style.
About a year ago, I was approached about doing a
proper ready to wear causal range, and stuff like that,
but I’m known for my tailoring and I think it’s best
really to stick with what you do best. I mean accessories
and other things around what we do are important,
but I think as long as we can create a complete look
for Mark Powell the brand I think that’s really the
most important. I mean of course, I’d love to do my
own fragrance, which everyone always comments on
my own personal fragrance that I wear, but everyone
always says to me about doing a fragrance, and I
would love to do that, but unless you’re going to have
the money to invest in the marketing it’s going to be
very difficult to make that work. I mean of course, if
you’ve got the money to spend on the marketing it’s
an amazing thing to go into…if you can go into the
fragrances of course. I mean I’d love to do it
