The train provides six luxury suites, round-the-clock butler service, bespoke
furnishings, piano recitals, and impeccable cuisine prepared under the superb
guidance of Katsuhiro Nakamura, Japan’s first Michelin-star chef. The
music throughout the voyage is specifically premeditated for the rail passage
by award-winning film composer Naoki Sato. Reflecting Japaese design culture,
the walls and windows of the Komorebi lounge evoke the organic forms and light
of the countryside. In the white-walled Terrace Kizashi/Ibuki, the first and last
carriage of the train serving as observation cars, geometric cut-out windows
offer unobstructed views of Japan’s breathtaking scenery. The dining car menu,
formulated by Michelin-star chef Katsuhiro Nakamura, adjusts to exemplify the
ingredients and culinary style of the regions through which the train is passing.
Travelling on the Shiki-Shima is a spectacular sensory experience complete with
gracious and attentive service for guests’ utmost comfort and enjoyment.
