You have quite the accomplished curriculum vitae, having
been Concertmaster of orchestras including the Osaka
Philharmonic, the Vancouver Symphony, and The Residentie
Orchestra (The Hague) as well as the Grand Teton Music
Festival, the Chautauqua Music Festival Orchestra, and the
Colorado Music Festival Orchestra to name a few. Is there a
specific standout moment that you’ve had while leading the
performances of such esteemed orchestras?

A Concertmaster, as distinct from a conductor, is the principal violinist of the
orchestra sitting to the immediate left of the conductor. The concertmaster
leads the orchestra through the quality of his playing and through his ability
to perform concertos as soloist with the orchestra. There have been many
standout moments for me as a concertmaster, such as when performing the
great violin concertos of the literature with some of the great conductors, as
well as the great concertmaster solos such as “ Ein Heldenleben” and “
Scheherazade “. Being invited to be guest Concertmaster and playing in
some of the great concert halls of the world, such as the Concertgebouw
Hall in Amsterdam, Symphony Hall in Osaka, and touring Asia with the
Budapest Festival Orchestra, were other memorable standout
moments.Being the Concertmaster of the Grand Teton Music
Festival orchestra every summer for 20 years and leading my
colleagues chosen from the best orchestras of the US was a
special priviledge and a recurring standout moment.
