Robin Wright spoke in depth about her experience on House of Cards, where she stars, directs, and executive produces. She highlighted the challenges and rewards of leading a project from multiple angles, focusing on character complexity and visual storytelling.
“ I learned everything about directing with our DP on House of Cards. He had worked with Michael Mann and Oliver Stone. He knew everything about cameras, lenses and lighting. He was truly my cinema school.”
“ When it comes to equal pay they said no because I didn’ t win an Academy Awards, so they deviate and made me producer and I also directed. So, I had three paychecks to achieve the equality I asked for. But this is the go to line by men in this industry.”
Rola Bauer discussed trends in international production and the growing demand for female-led narratives, underscoring the importance of mentorship and creative control. The session was followed by a 20-minute press conference with Robin Wright, where she expanded on her vision for The Girlfriend, the process of Michelle Frances’ novel adaptation and her collaboration with Prime Video.
