Before the world witnessed the illustrious career , there was first the beginning story of Otis Clayborn Williams ’ life in Texarkana , Texas . Otis Williams , raised by two wonderful grandmothers , his paternal grandmother Mama Gooden , who instilled a lot of qualities in him , and taught him to stay prayerful , and his maternal grandmother Mama Williams . Growing up handling daily chores on the farm , at an earlier age young Otis became well-versed in working hard and getting things done . At the onset of his teenage years , Otis moved to Detroit , Michigan with his mother , and Mama Williams ’ influence took over . Unbeknown to him at that time , as his fate would have it , this was the infancy period of Rock n ’ Roll , which he had never experienced .
