Olivier Rousteing took to Paris Fashion Week to reveal the Maison’s massive
spring/summer 2018 collection. The season’s presentation was an elaborate and
glittering show that was a perfect melody of Americana and Francophilia.
Highlighting his baroque swirls and signature clash of ornate through his studded
leather jackets and fringed details comprising the perfect wardrobe essentials of a
Rockstar, Rousteing expressed his love for America by showcasing several boxy
pieces incorporating black leather embellishment with crystals and polished studs,
cowboy styles with long swaying fringes and chunky chains.
Drawing inspiration from the ornate interiors and aesthetic of France’s
palaces, white swirls wound their way to leather jackets and cardigans. The
designer also translated Breton stripes accented with a nautical anchor logo across
jackets, Balmain-zing them further into glittering sequined pieces while other
pieces displayed versions of the American flags in monochrome. Offering a nice
balance to the glitz, neutral toned knits, black jeans, leather and boots were also
part of the 80-piece collection.
There is no denying that the collection was inspired by the great pride the
designer’s has for his country, radiating an energy like no other.
