Person of Intrigue - Her
At first glance, I was drawn in by the design aesthetics of a few jewelry photos that
I came across as I was scrolling through my social media account. I then realized that I
was connected to the source of these fabulous treasures through social media. That source
turned out to be designer Loree Rodkin. Immediately I sent a message to Loree requesting
to feature her in this Fall 2018 issue of The Contour of Luxury. She responded favorably,
and well…here we are. It wasn’t until after I requested to feature Loree that I learned
anything about her background. It was through research that I uncovered the awe-inspiring,
and absorbingly interesting stories about Loree Rodkin’s, the Global Nomad, career path…
and what an extraordinary path it has been.
Loree Rodkin has had and still has a life journey that is organically remarkable and
albeit highly impressive. Fortuitously, she has had three immensely successful careers, all
of which have been dissimilar, yet have had a common thread of a need for her innate
creativity, and problem solving capabilities. Loree’s careers have ranged from designing the
homes of rock stars Alice Cooper, and Rod Stewart amongst a host of other Rock glitterati,
to being the talent manager launching the careers of young unknowns Brad Pitt, Robert
Downey Jr. and Sarah Jessica Parker to name just a few, and moreover, with a passion
for making jewelry she started a jewelry line, and landed Elizabeth Taylor as her First
client. Now that takes skills! Since those early days, Rodkin continues to design intricate
jewelry pieces for such icons as Madonna, Steven Tyler, Elton John, Cher (her best friend)
and countless others. She also had the honor of designing First Lady Michelle Obama’s
inaugural jewelry; those pieces now reside in the Smithsonian’s permanent collection.
As you will see here on our pages and throughout Loree’s website and Instagram site,
her handmade couture pieces are supreme. Her designs profoundly express a unique use
of diamonds, platinum, gold and precious stones inspired by her world travels. Please enjoy
my Q&A with Loree Rodkin, my choice Person of Intrigue - Her…no doubt you will.
