Igal , although you ’ re a graduate of the Institut de Gemmologie at L ’ Ecole du Louvre in Paris , where you earned a HRD Diamond Certification , your gemology pedigree runs deep as a fifth-generation French jeweler and designer . Will you share with us a bit of your family ’ s history in precious stones and exquisite jewelry design and what inspired you to continue the tradition ?
I remember when I was three-years-old and , each time my father would design a new jewelry piece , he would bring it home to show my mother . At this very young age I was paying close attention and learning . I loved jewelry and knew that I wanted to follow in my father ’ s footsteps . I attended L ’ Ecole du Louvre / Institut de Gemmologie in Paris . While in school I was working at Rue Du Temple in Paris as a stone setter . After I completed L ’ Ecole du Louvre , I moved to Antwerp , Belgium , to study and later receive the HRD Diamond Expert Certification . I specialized in buying and selling precious stones to Graff Diamonds , David Morris , Boucheron , Chaumet , and Van Cleef and Arpels . Later , I moved to Bangkok , Thailand , with my family . It was there where created a design for an interchangeable ring and made it possible to change the center stone . In Bangkok , my father formed a factory and the interchangeable ring was created . I finally moved to Los Angeles , California , where I created the i . d x-change Cuffs of Love jewelry line . This line is worn by many celebrities , including Elton John , Matt Damon , Kim Kardashian and The Hilton Sisters , and sold in over 26 countries worldwide . In 2017 , I returned to my love for precious stones and created IGAL DAHAN fine jewelry .
